 | Sir William Rothenstein, (1872 – 1945) Biography William was born in Bradford and studied at the Slade School of Art, and also studied in Paris where he met Rex Whistler and Edgar Degas. As a member of the International Society of Sculptors, Painters and Engravers, he served as an official War Artist in World War I and II. From his later position was Principal of the Royal College of Art, he encouraged other artist’s such as Henry Moore and Paul Nash and wrote several books. |
